Descrizione Generale

The general objective of ELIH MED project is to identify and implement innovative technical solutions and financing mechanisms to improve energy efficiency in low-income housings in the Mediterranean area. The project should then lead to:
. Focus national, regional and local public policies on energy efficiency in low income housing and help this sector reach EU’s 20/20/20 objectives;
. Boost energy efficiency investments in low income housing in the Mediterranean Area through the creation, transfer, combination and adaptation of innovative financing mechanisms backed with ERDF funds;
. Increase living comfort levels and the quality of life for low income households;
. Develop innovative energy policies to reduce energy poverty through a combination of focused and adapted technical and financial solutions and incentives to change energy behaviour;
. Facilitate the achievement of 4% ERDF allocation objective for the housing sector and pave the way for a more important role of ERDF in energy efficiency in building;
. Develop and get a political consensus on a transnational operational program on energy efficiency in low-income buildings, as a component of a macro regional strategy in the Mediterranean area in the next programming period 2014-2020.
