Descrizione e Attività
Descrizione Generale
Green City Solutions has developed a patented solution, called “CityTree”, which features special moss cultures that intercept air pollutants in urban ambient air, contributing to both mitigate climate change and improve air quality (win-win strategy). Controlled and supplied by Internet-of-Things (IoT) technology, according to laboratory tests, each unit has the potential effect of up to 275 average urban trees binding up to 240t of CO2 equivalents annually.
European cities still fail to comply with regulations set by the EU and are facing fines of hundreds of millions €, forcing them to act.
Based on city officials’ feedback, in order to advance with the implementation of the solution on a big scale, research to collect data on its impact is necessary.
The objective of the Scaler Project is to prove the effectiveness of the biotechnological “CityTree” in an urban environment, with regards to its ability to face air pollution improve biodiversity and reduce heat island effects. The goal of the Scaler Project is to provide cities with a holistic solution of a smart climate infrastructure. For city districts with pollution levels like Berlin, calculations estimate 100 units per 10km² which equals 24.000t of CO2 equivalents bound every year per district.
