The Project AIR GREEN 2 aims to develop and demonstrate innovative concepts and methodologies enabling the realization of a wing of new generation. This wing will be characterized by: (i) an innovative structure, as a result of an improved life cycle design; (ii) a high level of adaptability, enabling load control and alleviation strategies, and enhancing the aerodynamic performance at the different flight regimes; (iii) an innovative aerodynamic design, oriented to the preservation of the natural laminar flow and for the drag reduction. The activities focus on: maturation of technologies and methodologies for the design and the realization of outer wing box components; development and validation, in relevant environment, of morphing concepts enabling the load control and alleviation and the high lift generation capabilities; development of highly integrated and optimized high lift devices; assessment and validation of innovative load and control strategies; assessment of the natural laminar flow design; technological maturation of the drag reduction concepts; manufacturing of the Flying Test Bed #1 (FTB) frame outer wing box demonstrator, integrated with the developed components, systems and technologies.

Attività svolta da ENEA:

Le attività ENEA si inseriscono nel work package dedicato al miglioramento del flusso laminare naturale (NLF) sulle ali. ENEA studia materiali o trattamenti che presentino comportamento idrofobico o/e autopulente, per favorire lo scorrimento dell’aria sull’ala e per ridurre la contaminazione delle superfici, e quindi permettere di aumentare la portanza, di diminuire la frequenza ed il costo degli interventi di pulizia, ed in definitiva di contribuire ad aumentare la sicurezza del volo.
